Counted cross stitch

Counted cross stitch is the oldest type of embroidery. Some counted cross stitch samplers have been discovered dating as far as the 5th century BC. Traditionally there were floral or geometric designs that were used to decorate household items. Counted cross stitch is worked on aida or linen fabrics using cotton floss.
It is a vey common hobby and very easy to learn. Completed designs give a pleasure and satisfaction of a handmade art.
